Frequently Asked Questions

What is Bidsie?
Bidsie is a mobile marketplace that connects clients who need small jobs done with local service professionals ("Pros"). Clients post jobs, Pros submit bids, and clients choose the best Pro for their needs. The app handles the entire process from job posting to completion.
How do I get started as a Client?
  1. Download Bidsie from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android)
  2. Sign up with Apple, Google, or email
  3. Select "Client" as your account type
  4. Post your first job with a description, location, and photos
  5. Review bids from local Pros
  6. Accept a bid and communicate with your chosen Pro
  7. Mark the job as complete when finished
How do I get started as a Pro?

  2. Sign up with Apple, Google, or email
  3. Select "Pro" as your account type
  4. Browse available jobs in your area
  5. Submit bids on jobs you want to do

What's the difference between Free and Premium plans?
Free Plan (for Pros):
  • 10 bids per month (resets on the 1st)
  • Access to jobs after a 2-minute early access window
Premium Plans (Monthly & Annual):
  • Unlimited bids
  • Immediate access to new jobs (2-minute early access)
  • Priority notifications
  • Annual subscribers get an "Early Supporter" badge
Does Bidsie charge fees for completed jobs?
No! Bidsie does not charge any fees or commissions on jobs. Payment for services is arranged directly between clients and Pros. We only charge for Premium subscriptions (optional for Pros).
How does payment work?
Bidsie does not process payments for services. Clients and Pros arrange payment directly (cash, Venmo, Zelle, etc.). This gives you flexibility in how you handle transactions. Premium subscriptions are processed through the Apple App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android).
When can I message a Pro or Client?
Messaging is enabled only after a client accepts a bid. This ensures that communication happens when both parties are committed to working together. Before acceptance, Pros can use Quick Questions to ask about the job (see below).
What are Quick Questions?

Quick Questions let Pros ask clarifying questions about a job before submitting a bid — since messaging isn't available until a bid is accepted.

For Pros:

  1. Open a job you're interested in
  2. Tap "Ask a Question"
  3. Type your question (e.g., "Is there parking available?" or "What floor is the apartment on?")
  4. The client is notified and can respond
  5. You'll get a notification when they answer

For Clients:

  1. You'll receive a notification when a Pro asks a question about your job
  2. Open the job and view the question
  3. Tap to answer — your response is visible to the Pro who asked

Quick Questions help Pros write better, more accurate bids by understanding the job details upfront.

How do I cancel my Premium subscription?

For iOS (iPhone/iPad):

  1. Open Settings on your iPhone
  2. Tap your name at the top
  3. Tap "Subscriptions"
  4. Find Bidsie and tap "Cancel Subscription"

For Android:

  1. Open the Google Play Store app
  2. Tap your profile icon at the top right
  3. Tap "Payments & subscriptions" → "Subscriptions"
  4. Find Bidsie and tap "Cancel subscription"

You'll keep Premium access until the end of your billing period, then automatically downgrade to the Free plan.

What happens if I run out of bids on the Free plan?
On the Free plan, you get 10 bids per month. Once you use all 10, you'll need to wait until the 1st of the next month for your bids to reset, or upgrade to Premium for unlimited bids. Note: Bids count when submitted, and withdrawn or rejected bids are NOT refunded.
How does the referral program work?
Generate your unique referral code in the app and share it with friends. When they sign up and complete their first action (Pros: submit a bid, Clients: post a job), you earn a "Golden Envelope" reward. Track your referrals in the Referrals screen.
Can I switch between Client and Pro modes?
Yes! Bidsie supports dual-role accounts, allowing you to be both a Client and a Pro with a single account. You can switch between modes anytime by going to Settings and tapping "Switch to Pro" or "Switch to Client." Each mode has its own dashboard, jobs, and bids, but your account, profile, and login remain the same.
How do I delete my account?

To delete your account and all associated data:

  1. Go to Settings (tap the gear icon)
  2. Tap "Privacy & Security"
  3. Tap "Delete Account"
  4. Confirm the deletion

You can also contact us at [email protected] with your account email and we'll process your request within 48 hours.

Note: This action is permanent and cannot be undone. All your jobs, bids, messages, and profile data will be deleted.

How do I download a copy of my data?

You can export all your Bidsie data directly from the app:

  1. Go to Settings (tap the gear icon)
  2. Tap "Privacy & Security"
  3. Tap "Data Export"
  4. Wait for your data to be prepared
  5. Choose where to save or share the JSON file

The export includes your profile, jobs, bids, messages, ratings, service packages, and notification preferences. This feature helps you comply with GDPR/CCPA data portability rights.

How do I block or report another user?

If you encounter inappropriate behavior, you can block or report users directly in the app:

To block a user:

  1. Go to the user's profile (or tap the three-dot menu in a conversation or job details)
  2. Tap the three-dot menu icon (⋮) in the top right
  3. Select "Block User"
  4. Confirm the block

When you block someone:

  • You won't see their profile, jobs, or bids
  • They won't see your profile, jobs, or bids
  • If you have an active hired job together, it will be cancelled
  • Neither party is notified that a block occurred

You can unblock users anytime in Settings → Blocked Users.

To report a user:

  1. Tap the three-dot menu on their profile or content
  2. Select "Report"
  3. Choose a reason (spam, harassment, scam, etc.)
  4. Add optional details and submit

Our team reviews all reports and takes appropriate action.

What if I have a dispute with another user?
Bidsie is a platform connecting clients and Pros. We are not a party to agreements between users. Disputes should be resolved directly between the client and Pro. If you're experiencing harassment or inappropriate behavior, you can block the user directly in the app (see above). For serious violations of our Terms of Service (fraud, threats, etc.), please report the user through the app or email [email protected].
What is the Explore Pros feature?
The Explore tab (for Clients) lets you browse local service professionals by specialty before posting a job. You can:
  • Filter pros by service category (Plumbing, Electrical, Handyman, etc.)
  • View pro profiles, ratings, and reviews
  • See their service packages and pricing
  • Request a service package directly from a pro's profile
This is great when you already know what service you need and want to find the right pro first.
What are Service Packages?

For Pros: Service Packages let you create fixed-price offerings for common jobs (e.g., "Basic Lawn Mowing - $50" or "TV Mounting - $75"). You can:

  • Create packages from your Profile tab → Manage Packages
  • Set a title, description, price, and category
  • Packages appear on your profile for clients to view

For Clients: When viewing a pro's profile, you can request one of their service packages. The pro can Accept (job is immediately hired at the package price) or Decline your request. If accepted, you can message the pro to coordinate details.

How do Direct Requests work?

Direct Requests let clients hire a specific Pro for a service package without posting a public job.

For Clients:

  1. Go to the Explore tab and browse local Pros by category
  2. Tap on a Pro's profile to view their service packages
  3. Tap "Request" on the package you want
  4. The Pro will be notified and can Accept or Decline
  5. If accepted, the job is created at the package price and you can start messaging

For Pros:

  1. You'll receive a notification when a client requests one of your packages
  2. Review the request and the client's profile
  3. Accept to start the job, or Decline if you're unavailable

Note: Direct Requests are different from regular jobs. They go directly to the chosen Pro rather than being visible to all Pros in the area. Only Pros with service packages can receive direct requests.

How do ratings and reviews work?
After a job is marked complete, both the client and pro can rate each other:
  • Ratings are on a 5-star scale
  • You can also leave a written review
  • Ratings are visible on user profiles
  • Reviews help build trust and reputation in the community
To view someone's reviews, tap their profile and scroll to the Reviews section. Your own reviews are visible in your Profile tab.
I forgot my password. How do I reset it?
If you signed up with email and password:
  1. On the login screen, tap "Forgot Password?"
  2. Enter the email address associated with your account
  3. Check your email for a password reset link
  4. Follow the link to create a new password

If you signed up with Apple or Google, you don't need a Bidsie password—just tap "Sign in with Apple" or "Sign in with Google" on the login screen.

Can I edit a job after posting it?
Yes! To edit a job you've posted:
  1. Go to your Jobs tab and tap on the job
  2. Tap the Edit button (pencil icon) in the top right
  3. Update the title, description, photos, or other details
  4. Save your changes

Note: You can edit jobs while they're open or reviewing bids. Once a job is hired or completed, it can no longer be edited.

How does job completion work?

Once a job is done, either the client or the Pro can request completion:

  1. Open the hired job
  2. Tap "Request Completion" (or "Mark Complete")
  3. The other party receives a notification to confirm
  4. Once confirmed, the job is marked as completed

After completion, both parties can rate and review each other.

Note: If you requested completion and the other party hasn't confirmed yet, you'll see a "Waiting for confirmation" status. You can message them as a reminder.

What happens after I submit or receive a bid?

Here's how the bid process works from start to finish:

For Pros:

  • Submit a bid — Include your price and a message to the client
  • Bid accepted — The client chose you! The job moves to "Hired" and you can start messaging
  • Bid rejected — The client passed on your bid. You'll be notified, and the client may reconsider later (you'll get a "Bid Reopened" notification if so)
  • Withdraw a bid — Changed your mind? You can withdraw your bid before it's accepted
  • Resubmit a bid — If your bid was reopened by the client, you can submit a new offer

For Clients:

  • Review bids — View all bids on your job, compare prices and pro profiles
  • Accept a bid — This hires the Pro and enables messaging
  • Reject a bid — Pass on a bid you're not interested in
  • Reopen a bid — Changed your mind about a rejected bid? You can reopen it for the Pro to resubmit

Note: On the Free plan, each bid submission counts toward your monthly limit of 10 — withdrawn or rejected bids are not refunded.
